Jack Ormondroyd, aka Rasky

Hospitality by trade. Songs, software and a venue of my own in the making.

I've worked in pubs, bars and restaurants for years. Outside of that I write songs and build software, and I'm planning a venue of my own. This is where all of it lives.

01 Raskys

Not just somewhere to drink.

Raskys is the venue I want to open: cocktails, wine, live music and the kind of service that makes people feel remembered. It doesn't exist yet. The plan does.

Where it starts

A cocktail and wine bar with a stage

Signature cocktails, carefully chosen wine, seasonal menus, live music, DJs, tastings and mixology classes, with seating that gets people talking. One day, somewhere warm and beachside.

Where it could go

A destination

A larger venue with a restaurant, several bars, live stages, a rooftop, boutique bowling, casino-style games and space for private events.

02 Things I'm building

A lot of it starts on a shift.

I build websites and small software tools, often for problems I've seen up close in hospitality. Some are working, some are prototypes, a couple are early ideas with a front end.

Event pre-orders

Guests choose dishes and note allergies; staff get every order in one place, with kitchen and service summaries.

Built from the email and spreadsheet juggling I saw on shift, with guest ordering, event setup and a workspace for the venue team.

Perfect Host

What
A floor plan and host tool: live table states, guest notes, timings and requests at a glance.
Why
Hosting a busy room is mostly about not missing small signals. This puts them on one screen.
Built
An interactive mobile prototype with a full restaurant floor plan.
Working iOS app · development build

Bar & service tools

What
An iPhone app for recipes, batch calculations, prep, stock and wine guidance.
Why
The little things that keep a busy shift moving, together and close to hand.
Built
Working native tools with local storage, informed by my own time behind the bar.

And the rest

Smaller tools, experiments and design work.

Building worlds, not just websites.

I use AI-assisted development tools to bring ideas to life, from Java-based multiplayer RPG systems and Unity games to interactive experiences, mobile applications and creative software. I shape the ideas, direct the tools, and test and refine what we build.

I'm also writing a novel: In the Shadow of a Shnork.

A fantasy story about a creature waking up in a forest that changes him. The first seven chapters are free to read.

04 About

Good nights are my trade.

I've worked in hospitality for 10+ years, from pubs and restaurants in Suffolk to management roles on the south coast. These days I'm an assistant manager at a beachside venue in Hove. I know how to look after a room, and how to give people a good night.

The rest of my time goes on making things. Music as Raskyjack, games and interactive worlds, websites and software built with AI. Some ideas come from problems I’ve met at work; others simply from wanting to create something new. And when there’s time, I write.

Raskys is where it's all heading: a venue with good drinks, live music and the kind of service I'd want to receive myself.
